It's after Christmas now, but we are separated (each visiting our own families) so I am giving him his Christmas present when I see him again. These would be perfect!
-Shayna

I like T-Shirts. I mean, I really really LIKE T-Shirts. I spend a month's salary on t-shirts (and, to be fair, on shoes and sneakers). I know a lot of girls who wouldn't want any of your Tees, but I do. I'm a girl that is obsessed with T-Shirts.

And I'm not just saying that. I have all kinds of T-shirts, but I really prefer those with print on them, no matter how silly it is. I only wear t-shirts & jeans. And, well, in Germany, t-shirts are damn expensive (just as everything else is), so this is, well, an opportunity to get them for free, yay.

I own like every T-shirt from Tshirthell.com but I can't get enough. I got a letter last night from a reader who wants my Amor Amor perfume. He has some good reasons why I should send it to him (however, number 10 makes me wonder, Brett, whether you know that perfume is not edible ; ) ). Do you have any better reasons why I should send my perfume to you? If so, send them to SomethingFromMyRoom@gmail.com. I'll mail the winner my perfume this Friday, December 14.

Amor Amor for Me Me

MJ,

*I* should be given the perfume. There are ten good reasons why you should send it to me.

10. With vanilla and black currant in it, I know I'd love the taste.

9. I know that Amor Amor means Love Love. Isn't that Special Special?

8. Fun thing number 34 I can do with perfume: Stand in department store near perfume lady and steal her thunder. Until I get kicked out.

7. Dig how in tune with the perfume I am: Je te vie le mois'e et Amor Amor la de da fou-fou. Didn't that sound romantic?

6. Amor Amor is "a romantic floral Oriental fragrance." That basically describes me to a T. Especially the Oriental adjective. I'm so Oriental. In fact, just this week, I found out that one of my friends owns a katana. He uses it to kill scorpions. Hi-yah.

5. It looks like a perfume grenade, and I think that's cool.

4. It's like stinkin' 3:04 in the morning. I can't sleep because I'm sick and coughing too much. What do I automatically think of? Perfume.

3. Fun thing number 27 I can do with perfume: Pay cashiers with Amor Amor drenched bills.

2. Go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg6bZSM48vU. Now imagine me replacing Bruce Campbell. I'm Martha Jean, John Brooks' girlfriend. This is my first post in Something From My Room. I hope you like it. ;)

While perusing my mountains of stuff I don't need (we all have too much stuff these days, don't we?) I discovered a gleaming crimson bottle flashing at me from my vanity. I actually discovered two nearly identical gleaming crimson bottles, and out of my infinite charity I've decided to offer you, the reader, the larger one.

This is a 3.4 oz. bottle of Amor Amor perfume by Cacharel. As you can see from the picture, it's nearly full - I don't think I've ever used it, to be honest, except for spraying it once a few moments ago to make sure the pump works. I bought it because I was running low on my first bottle of it and didn't want to run out - but then I switched perfumes and stopped using it entirely. I'm not a terribly loyal perfume user - always flitting around, trying new things.

Amor Amor smells fantastic though. It's a very sensual perfume with vanilla, jasmine, and blackcurrant. This bottle would normally retail for about $55.00, but I'm offering it to you for free!

Ladies, obviously you can use it for yourself or give it to a friend. Gentlemen, you can give it as a gift - your conversation might go something like this:

You: "Hey, I got you this practically brand-new bottle of perfume for free over the internet, which means I'll be able to put the money I saved toward that diamond you said you wanted."
Her: "Not only are you thoughtful for giving me a gift, but you obviously want to save the earth and waste fewer resources by giving me a recycled gift! And you are so thrifty and good at managing your money! Forget the diamond - you have already proven yourself worthy of my affections! You don't have to do anything else!"

If you want this email me your name and address along with a good reason why I should send it to you. This is the first post in a loooong time, but it looks like I'm back for awhile. I apologize for not posting for so long. I decided to switch the site to a multi-author Blog. The plan is to have a different person posting an item each week. I am going to post a schedule for who will be posting and what not in the coming week.

So here's a 2007 Origami Calendar, without 360 ready to be folded Origamis! While it's not a very functional calendar anymore, it is a very functional Origami kit.

If you want this email me your name and address along with a good reason why I should send it to you. Who should I send the game too?

Ok, I could go about telling you the reasons I want this, but I've already told you them. Instead, I've decided to go with the trends the others win with. If I win this game, I will use it to totally PWN the newb's with my M4A1. I would go around and head shot everyone, in the name of JB Pounders. Then, I'd shoot them after I already killed them. After I got noticed, I'd start my own clan and call it JB Pounding, in lieu of you. I hope you see that I absolutely need this.

Jons

Oh my lord. My heart actually skipped a beat when I saw what you were giving away.
But apart from cardiac calisthenics, why should you give me, a simple girl, Counterstrike: Source? Because I kick ass.
I learned how to play first person shooters when my high school friends would loan me 24 hour access to their Steam accounts, which hosted a bevy of glorious games: Counterstrike, CS Source, Half-life, Half-life 2, Half-life Deathmatch, Day of Defeat... hours of freedom and bloody mayhem would be mine as I learned to snipe, strafe, and re-spawn. But then the brief access would be denied when they reset their passwords, leaving me to pine away at my own computer, resigned to playing Spider Solitaire and the Sims.
When I got to college, I was no longer allowed access to their accounts and I never was able to buy CS for myself due to a lack of funds (because I was buying too much food) and a lack of n00bs to pwn (since I'd be forced to play online and get my butt handed to me. While I was good at sniping my friends on our dedicated server, when I played one time against *real* players, I was laughed of the de_dust playing field.)
What this all boils down to is that obviously, I need this game. I need to become a better player, and a better human altogether. It's fate, don't you see? As I face my last year of college, the memories from my last year in high school are flooding back to me, and only Counterstrike: Source can help me transition into graduate school, law school, whatever school, and beyond.

Yours in snipery,
Vey
Baton Rouge

Hi.

I would like to have your game because I have a ladyfriend that is divorced, her husband left her and the boy and he's a 14 year old boy with downes syndrome (Probably didn't spell that right.) This is why there have been no updates on the blog. I had promised myself I would make a post before I left but never found the time.

I had never lost a cell phone till about 2 months ago. The first phone I lost fell straight from my pocket and into a sewer when I was walking to class. Three university maintenance guys and one backhoe couldn't get it out...oh well. That was also a Blackberry Pearl, well needless to say I bought the insurance this time around so it did not cost me nearly as much as it did before. I lost my third phone at a place called the FloraBama known for its mullet toss(the fish not the hair trend sweeping the nation). The phone went MIA and fell out of my pocket yet again.

No one wants Grapevine! Here are my friends emails. I'll post something that is amazing tomorrow!

These are the only emails I received and they were from my friends:

Hey John Brooks,

I think your site is a good idea. I think this book sounds
interesting, and I would like to read it. Do you think people can
become famous through the Grapevine?
That's what I'd most like to find out.

Allie
Dear John Brooks,

Let me tell you why I need that book: . . .well, I honestly can't think
of a reason. It's just too lame. Why don't you give it to a dog to
pee on?

No, no, no, I'm just kidding. I'm just bored and thought I would send
a rude email to you. The book actually looks pretty good if you're
into advertising. I keep up with the site pretty often. Itsumi and I
got an apartment...it's pretty neat! We will move into it in July.
We're leaving for Japan on Thursday, so let me know if you're in
Florence and want to hang out before I go.

Okay, see you later. Please don't post my email. I'm sure someone
else needs the book more than I do.

Ry

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://somethingfrommyroom.blogspot.com/2007/05/no-one-wants-grapevine-besides-my.html' title='No one wants Grapevine! My room mate is an artist and I asked to to make a quick drawing on the back of the cd, I then taped it up and threw a bunch of stamps on there... the Buckeye Butterfly stamp. All of them have some really good quotable lines. Who do you guys think I should pick?
Comment!

I believe that hat should be in my possession because I need a hat. My previous hats are all undersized from my hair growing too much, and I can wear the Vegas hat. It would give me great deal to pee next to someone in a bathroom and say, "Hey, guess where I got this hat?" He wouldn't know because I would wear it sidewards (backwards with a twist). Then I would use my free hand to spin the hat in his direction and say, "Vegas, baby, Vegas!" If he gives me sass, which he probably will, I can unravel some rubber bands and shoot them at him (after I shake and zipper, of course). The coat rack won't do much for me, but if I build a snowball fight fort or something, who knows, I might need a coat rack. Word, homie.

-Max, Pennsylvania

Hi! I just stumbleupon'd your site today, and what a perfect fit it is! I've been wanting to get a coat rack just like the one you're giving away! If you send it to me, I will put it up at my work where it is very badly needed (I broke the old one...flimsy plastic junk).

-Jim

A good reason why I should get these magnificent items? Because I wrote you a poem about the three items.

Thoughts of all the items I've missed
Leaves me crying in my bed
And if i don't get that coat rack I'll be pissed
I'd also love a Las Vegas hat to sit upon my head

A rubber band ball to make even bigger
Man I will deck out my room with this stuff much the same as a diamond grill on a wigger
Sure he's white, but he's got bling
So won't you please send me atleast one thing?

-Mitchell from Georgia

Dear John,

I regret to say that this relationship can no longer continue. Despite repeated warnings I still found you last week in the company of two hookers, one of which had volunteered her ass to be your personal coke plate. Really, John, snorting lines of coke off a hooker's ass is so 80's! Didn't you learn anything at all from all those pirated DVDs we used to watch? I guess not, since I found you in the aforementioned position just days after our talk about hookers, their asses and your nose can- wait, is this John Banks? Oh, crap...sorry, wrong John, just ignore all that.

As you can clearly see I'm not only full of ribald, ersatz wit, I'm also suffering from entirely too much time on my hands. So, to answer your question as to why you should give me your stuff all I can say is:

I NEED that coat rack. No really seriously. I'm a knitter/crocheter/sewer (as in person who sews, not the pipe poop goes into) and make a lot of scarves, shawls and wraps. I have no where to hang them up so they get wrinkled and the cats sleep on them. After all that time spent making something lovely and nice I hate to see it turned into a smelly, hair-covered cat bed. Wouldn't you?

The rubber band ball is also a 'must have' for me. See I have 3 dogs and 5 cats and the dogs love to chase the ball (well, except the chihuahua, the ball's bigger than her head) but the cats don't really like ball, however the cats LOVE rubber bands, so much so that I've had to start hiding them lest they become fun, rubbery snake substitutes for the cats. With a rubber band ball I would not only have a place to store all my hidden rubber bands but the dogs and cats could play together in harmony at last.

The Vegas Hat has my head aching for it. I love odd caps and frequently wear them when I don't feel like messing with my hair (pretty much always) because I'm an inherently lazy creature.

So if you care for things made with love, a peaceful and harmonious home, animals and wild southern women who scoff at coiffed hair and made up faces then there's really only one clear option isn't there?

Your Adoring Fan,
Kellie, GA

PS I'll be over later with the hookers and coke.

A Las Vegas hat, small rubberband ball, and a coat rack (email me if you want these for FREE)

A Las Vegas hat, small rubberband ball, and a coat rack (email me if you want to get these things for FREE)
Hey look, it's the first multiple item give away. Who should I pick?

I didn't get as many emails for the composition book. The emails I did get were very good though. It will be a tough decision. So here are the possible recipients one from NYC, Canada, the Philippines, and Ohio.

Hi JB:

Not only would I use the Mead notebook for jotting down deep thoughts as I thunk 'em, but as an added bonus, they would be Canadian thoughts — mailing the notebook to me would really improve the scope of your map!

Hopefully your next recipient,
Suzanne Canada

A Good Reason Why You Should Send It To Me:

When I'm in a funk, I usually buy new notebooks, write on the first few pages, then stick them everywhere in my room. I'm in a royal funk right now, but have no money to buy a new notebook. How about the various notebooks you've already started, you ask. Sorry, they've all been doodled to death.

But, even if it's not a new notebook, but if it came from someone from the other side of the world, living a life somewhat different than mine, I can appreciate it. More so because you already wrote something in the pages.

It's going to be something different for me, anyway.

Thanks. And nice blog ^__^

-Karen Philippines

I do not know you…although I like to think we will be friends someday. 
This Mead notebook is meant to be MINE. As a passionately creative person
By nature, I love to draw, write, and design & at one time entrusted many
Intimate thoughts and ideas to the Mead trademark.

I have recently been in a creative RUT! Doing the 9-5 (and then some), while keeping me
In the design world, takes its toll on my creative spirit. I am left drained and without
Energy to create outside of the four walls of my design studio.

This Mead notebook has the potential to be the catalyst that joltz me back into my once full
Creative space. In fact, if granted the opportunity to FILL this notebook…I will fill it with thoughts,
Drawings, and ideas & send it BACK to you, a vast improvement from it’s original status.

In short, this notebook has the capacity to bring me back from the edge. A wild yet withered
Blossom, parched without the presence of HEART. I could go out and buy any old notebook, true enough.
But receiving it as a gift will hold me responsible for my inspirations & thus, I will not sleep without writing
In it diligently & without contempt.

Be my HEART, John Brooks…Be my HEART.

-Kristi Marie

(former Midwest cronie, now NYC inhabitant, basement studio in QUEENS)

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for composition notebooks and have recently adopted the idea of collecting them because I use them so much. In high school I had two composition notebooks to pass notes in class, and I buy a new composition notebook every time I get a new story idea. I have about 15-20 composition notebooks, and would be honored to add yours to my collection.

Thank you very much for your time.
Anne Ohio

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://somethingfrommyroom.blogspot.com/2007/04/here-are-emails-for-mead-composition.html' title='Here are the emails for the Mead Composition book. I decided to give the game to Kristine because she realizes how bad the game is. I also liked the fact that she researched the game. Maybe she can find some appreciation in how bad it really is. Think about it...how easy can it be to infiltrate warehouses with a dvd remote? Well they produced a nice trailer for the game either way. Here it is:

I am trying to ship this game today, but alas my transmission is out and Mr. Transmission (that is the real name of the place) hasn't called me yet to tell me it is fixed. Thank you so much!

ps - I have a bad feeling this is going to distract me in school >_< -- Seth

Here are the emails. Who should I pick?

This week's emails have been very different than last weeks. Mainly they are from die-hard 24 fans who want to play the game. If anyone else wants to email me a reason as to why I should send them my 24 DVD board then please write me a compelling reason and your address.

My husband is obsessed by the show and has spent hundreds of dollars on everything that is 24....our house is getting to be a shrine, and his birthday is coming up.

Please and much deep thanks :)

Anelle =^..^= Post Falls, ID

I need something from your room as I am about to become a parent for the first time,

Take care

Denise Cox Essex

We'll I see what you posted, and I'm actually happy I didn't get the GameBoy Micro. I loved the show 24 back when we had cable. I watched it (some might say religiously) every Monday at 9. Then we didn't have money to see it any more, and I haven't watched it since. I hope I get it, and that it's based more on the first few seasons, not this last one. Also, if it helps I also, am 17. Didn't think it mattered before but I guess age helps you win. But I don't want my age in consideration because that is no reason why I want this game, it's because I love 24. Favorite characters: David Palmer, and Kim Bauer. Thanks.

Jons<out> Wyoming, MI</out>
<out>

Dear JB:

I stumbled across your site and see that you are giving away 24: the DVD board game! OMG! I have never played this game, so I did some research to see how much fun I might expect to have, should I be so lucky to receive the game.

I found the following review:
Hideous game, 14 December 2006

</out>
Author: reviewer101 from United States

Hard to play, no continuity or instructions that make sense. Buy it at a yard sale this summer for a quarter, but pass on it now. This has limited game play i would say once at most. My wife and I quit playing it after two hours of trying to figure out why there is a game board, and why the clue cards exist at all. We are in our early thirties, love the show, and are not technologically challenged. But this game is a mix of playing 1980's pong style games with less of a point and less of a mental challenge. I don't know what I need to continue and say more but I need 10 lines so...DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS GAME. Watch the show, but avoid this waste of money and time at all costs.

If that didn't make me want to play the game, the other following reviews really hit my desire to play this game out of the ballpark:

I just complained to them, you should too

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

this game is unbelievably TERRIBLE

so confused wish i didnt buy the game!

HUHHHHHH?

 WTF!!!!
As you can see, I have high expectations.

In reality, I would turn this into a drinking game and I really just want to see if Jack Bauer ever craps.

Thanks,
Kristine Columbus, OH

i m fed up from life, need something new in life to change, may be something from you room can help ..

cheers !!
the realin

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://somethingfrommyroom.blogspot.com/2007/04/here-are-emails-who-should-i-pick.html' title='Here are the emails. Infiltrate facilities and diffuse bombs in this somewhat riveting DVD board game. The power of Bauer is practically spilling out of the box. You start off by picking a CTU agent and Jack gives you a briefing on "the situation". It's kind of like clue but probably less fun. I wish I had a Gameboy for every person who wrote me but I don't. This was a very tough decision and I thought about it deeply. I started to think about what it was like to be 17 again and how that was a big turning point in my life. I had a few key people believe in me and what I could do and that drastically changed who I am. All I asked was for a compelling reason I should send it to you.

Wow, I got so many great responses. Here are the ones that I liked and will be picking from over the weekend. Some people really make a strong case of needing while some people simply want it. One person has the Easter Bunny on his side...which makes me kind of nervous.

I like free lunches, I like free gameboys too...
I would like to have your GB micro for free. Otherwise, the Easter
bunny will eat your face.
Yours Sincerely,
Mark

Hi :)

My name is Seth, and I saw your blog about the gameboy micro. I'm sure there's alot of people who probably have better reasons than mine to get the gameboy, but I decided to give it a shot anyways. My reason isn't exactly funny, but more of a request for assistance. You see, I'm a 17 year old High School student, and over the past year or 2, my hobbies haven't been the healthiest. I got into drugs, and sort of bad honestly. I got in some trouble for them as well. I've recently made a decision to quit completely, I've talked to a couple of my friends about it and they are quitting with me. My best idea to help me stay away from them, is to pick up other hobbies. The best thing I've come up with is video games! This used to be a huge hobby of mine, and still is really, but I quit playing games as much whenever I got into the bad stuff. Though, the only system I had was a PS2 which my brother borrowed, and broke, the disc tray was snapped off while it was opened, and someone happened to stumble across it, resulting in my loss of the only console I owned. I'm in the process of getting a job, hopefully at Blockbuster (the best job locally minus fast food, sad I know..) But until then, I don't have many games to play, minus a few PC games I play, like Gunbound and GunZ, both free.

I'm a huge fan of Nintendo, I used to have Gamecube, which was lost by my mother in the process of her moving 3 hours away, and when we looked there I couldn't find it. Again, I'm console-less.

I think if I got the gameboy micro, it'd do a great job of keeping me occupied, and away from drugs and the like, and after awhile, I hope to save up enough to get myself a Wii.

I'd appreciate you considering me to get the Gameboy, but like I said before, I'm sure you'll get funnier, or more relevant reasons from other people, though, this is my attempt. :) Thanks.

-Seth El Dorado,KS

I believe I deserve your Game boy Micro because my mom through away my Nintendo DS while I was deployed to Iraq. I never got around to replacing it, and while it's not quite the same, a Game boy Micro would do wonders for my return to normalcy.

- Shaun Jacksonville, NC

So i have 10 minutes till class as i write this. Before I found out about this i had about 30 minutes between classes leaving just enough time so i can't really do anything worthwhile. I have 7 hours and 45 minutes of class on Mondays and Wednesdays because I need 6 classes to graduate. I work part time and a lot of it is downtime but the money helps me pay the rent. Since i increased my classes to graduate i decreased my hours at work so I really don't have any extra cash to buy something fun for me. I spend a majority of my day on the go. I think that the gameboy micro would be awesome for me cause i have 10-20 minutes hear and there to play a quick game. This would help me keep my sanity and help me through my rough schedule for the next few months. If you feel some pity then please send me it and help a poor college student out. Thanks for reading!

-Parth

Heres why I would appreciate something from your room. Bear with me, this may or may not be a while. It all started in November, my parent's both work together installing Carpet. We live in Michigan, which you may or may not know, is, I believe, currently the worst economy in all 50 states. We'll my parents were sub-contractors for a big company here in Michgan. But this company was owned by a man, who's name I don't know.
His sister, re-ran for secretary of state, and he used his company's funds to help campaign for her. He in the end, ran the company basically into the ground. So since November, after the elections, the company my parents worked for, has been trying to catch up for lost funds and make up money. They weren't doing to good, so in the end it started coming to jobs cuts. My parent's weren't the first, but they definately weren't the last.
On January 3rd(yes I remember the day, it's the day the has thus far started ruining my life, and for some time put me into depression) they were called in, and fired, since they didn't want to let them go, and have to pay unemployment, they found stupid things to finally fire them over. This is kind of where you come in. Since then, we've had no money and been going into debt paying for ourselves to get by. Since then, I haven't really been able to do anything fun, that costed money or have any normal extra's people get.
I've been playing my playstation 1, that I planned to upgrade to a ps2 or something in February, for the last 2 years. If I got something from your room, I'm hoping it could be something to entertain me more then the 3 channels on tv, or a playstation 1 with a few games. Thank's for your time and I appreciate what your doing. If my life isn't enough reason to get something, maybe the point that I took all the time to type it, and am telling you, a complete stranger about it, is enough for you to help me out. Thanks, I hope I get something.

-Gary Wyoming, MI

I've bought and sold many a game system to pay for my addictive Apple
purchasing habits over the years. I would love to have a free system that I
can keep, because I wouldn't be tempted to sell it! Thanks for your
consideration, what a fun idea!

-Adam Davenport, IA

Hi! I know this may be a bit late but I just visited your site today. Awesome idea by the way!
My name is Matt, I'm 15, and I have 2 brothers who are 11 and 6. We constantly fight over the video games of the house. I love Advance Wars, my brother loves Megaman, and my other brother loves Pokemon. Needless to say, it's a hassle to trade off one GBA. Please, pick me for the Micro!
-Matt

Hello,

I should say I don't really NEED a Gameboy Micro. I would only use it to practice programming, because I use the emulator that comes with the free Visual Ham development software, and have gotten it to receive button input and draw lines. It sounds pretty lame but doing it was a lot of fun for me! So if you have an inkling to give it to someone that likes to tinker and make stuff, then indeed I am your man. Otherwise I think that someone else would have lots more fun with it.

Thanks for considering. I hope this turns out well for you no matter what!

-Dan Bayside, WI

Gameboy Micro emails recieved...keep them coming.

I have received some very compelling arguments for the Gameboy micro.
