A very simple idea. We send some random person on the internet something from my room...for free. We'll talk about what we are sending and then the response we get from the person receiving it.

Go! Emails!

Here are the e-mails for the Go! Team CD. Sorry for the slow update, I have been busy with school and what not. As usual I'll pick the recipient on Tuesday. Does anyone have any ideas for packaging just a CD? I don't have the jewel case that it came in.
[Historical note: Graham had the most votes in the poll.]

Hey I just saw your blog and it's a great idea !

I thought you could send the cd to me because I'm a songwriter, it fits good with me :-) ....and i could send you one of my cds in exchange if it happens you'll like my music.

Anyway you had a great idea ! good luck !

Hi,
I would love to have your CD "Go Team" I'm a music freak. I love music besides there's a picture of a cat on it and I'm also a cat freak too. I love cats and I live in Pittsburgh which is home to the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Your CD "Go Team" "Pittsburgh Panthers" Who could ask for a better combination.

Thanks
Brian Pittsburgh

I've been greatly depressed for a long time.

I've wanted to give up.

I used ''stumble'' and found this site... I found this site that showed me "the Go! Team"

and I realized that maybe I could make mix cd's that could make me want to live longer.

this music made me feel alive. No lie brother...I've been down.

Thank you for making me a bit more hopeful as is.

-K

Hey John,
It Northern Ireland here. How fantastic, The Go! Team rock. I got a rubbish rip (really bassy) of this and have always meant to get a copy but you know how these things go, put off and put off... I am so surprised that they have not done better (charts wise), it's rare that you hear there stuff anywhere! It's the type of thing that you need first thing on a Monday morning on the way to work to lift you spirits for the week and sadly my copy does not really cut it.
The only reason I can think that you send it to me is that I would actually appreciate it, well maybe I would use the case to roll on or as a coaster but it's all about the music for me dude! Yeah, yeah, yeah yeahhh!
Graham.
P.S. Loving the idea for this blog *thinks about my blog and rubs chin*

I sent the Mead notebook to...

I sent my Mead Composition book to the Philippines. I liked Karen's e-mail and the fact that it would be going all the way to the Philippines. I taped up the notebook and slapped all the address info on there. USPS tried to give me a hard time mailing it like this but I told them to just try it even if it might get messed up. They put all sorts of customs info on it and what not. I snapped a quick picture with my phone before the lady threw it in the mail pile.

Here is a google map of where my stuff is now.

The Worlds First Underwater Post Office

Apparently there is such a thing as an underwater post office. I would like to make it a goal to send something to or from one of these mail boxes. So, if you know anyone who has access to one of these email me!

The Worlds First Underwater Post Office

"Vanuatu Post has created the world’s only Underwater Post Office. Situated within a marine sanctuary, off Hideaway Island near Port Vila in Vanuatu, the Post Office can receive mail delivered in person if you are a visiting diver or snorkeller or sent via the Main Post Office to ensure all mail items receive the special cancellation from this unique underwater paradise."

This blog has more info about underwater post offices if you are interested.

Here are the emails for the Mead Composition book. Who should I pick?

I didn't get as many emails for the composition book. The emails I did get were very good though. It will be a tough decision. So here are the possible recipients one from NYC, Canada, the Philippines, and Ohio.

Hi JB:

Not only would I use the Mead notebook for jotting down deep thoughts as I thunk 'em, but as an added bonus, they would be Canadian thoughts — mailing the notebook to me would really improve the scope of your map!

Hopefully your next recipient,
Suzanne Canada

A Good Reason Why You Should Send It To Me:

When I'm in a funk, I usually buy new notebooks, write on the first few pages, then stick them everywhere in my room. I'm in a royal funk right now, but have no money to buy a new notebook. How about the various notebooks you've already started, you ask. Sorry, they've all been doodled to death.

But, even if it's not a new notebook, but if it came from someone from the other side of the world, living a life somewhat different than mine, I can appreciate it. More so because you already wrote something in the pages.

It's going to be something different for me, anyway.

Thanks. And nice blog ^__^

-Karen Philippines

I do not know you…although I like to think we will be friends someday. 
This Mead notebook is meant to be MINE. As a passionately creative person
By nature, I love to draw, write, and design & at one time entrusted many
Intimate thoughts and ideas to the Mead trademark.

I have recently been in a creative RUT! Doing the 9-5 (and then some), while keeping me
In the design world, takes its toll on my creative spirit. I am left drained and without
Energy to create outside of the four walls of my design studio.

This Mead notebook has the potential to be the catalyst that joltz me back into my once full
Creative space. In fact, if granted the opportunity to FILL this notebook…I will fill it with thoughts,
Drawings, and ideas & send it BACK to you, a vast improvement from it’s original status.

In short, this notebook has the capacity to bring me back from the edge. A wild yet withered
Blossom, parched without the presence of HEART. I could go out and buy any old notebook, true enough.
But receiving it as a gift will hold me responsible for my inspirations & thus, I will not sleep without writing
In it diligently & without contempt.

Be my HEART, John Brooks…Be my HEART.

-Kristi Marie

(former Midwest cronie, now NYC inhabitant, basement studio in QUEENS)

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for composition notebooks and have recently adopted the idea of collecting them because I use them so much. In high school I had two composition notebooks to pass notes in class, and I buy a new composition notebook every time I get a new story idea. I have about 15-20 composition notebooks, and would be honored to add yours to my collection.

Thank you very much for your time.

Also I have written on a couple of pages and will send the Bic #2 Pencil.

24 the DVD board game package(encrypted)

Well I did end up getting creative with the packaging. Please switch to secure alpha channel #154 to decrypt the package.

Monday, April 16, 2007

The winner of 24 the DVD board game is....

Kristine! I decided to give the game to Kristine because she realizes how bad the game is. I also liked the fact that she researched the game. Maybe she can find some appreciation in how bad it really is. Think about it...how easy can it be to infiltrate warehouses with a dvd remote? Well they produced a nice trailer for the game either way. Here it is:

I am trying to ship this game today, but alas my transmission is out and Mr. Transmission (that is the real name of the place) hasn't called me yet to tell me it is fixed. I'll post pics of the package tomorrow followed by a new item from my room on Wednesday.

Gameboy Micro received!

I got an email from Seth saying he received the GB. I asked him to send some pics of him with it. I'll post them once I receive them! Also I'll be picking a recipient of the 24 game tomorrow. Any ideas on a good way to package the game? I am thinking about just putting postage on the game. Is that too simple?

Hey! I got the Gameboy Micro in the mail today, and I love it!! My friend is letting me borrow Zelda: Four Swords/A Link to the Past for it, it's occupying alot of my time so far, haha. You were right, these things are absolutely fun. I really appreciate this, once again. Thank you so much!

ps - I have a bad feeling this is going to distract me in school >_< -- Seth

Here are the emails. Who should I pick?

This week's emails have been very different than last weeks. Mainly they are from die-hard 24 fans who want to play the game. If anyone else wants to email me a reason as to why I should send them my 24 DVD board then please write me a compelling reason and your address.

My husband is obsessed by the show and has spent hundreds of dollars on everything that is 24....our house is getting to be a shrine, and his birthday is coming up.

Please and much deep thanks :)

Anelle =^..^= Post Falls, ID

I need something from your room as I am about to become a parent for the first time,

Take care

We'll I see what you posted, and I'm actually happy I didn't get the GameBoy Micro. I loved the show 24 back when we had cable. I watched it (some might say religiously) every Monday at 9. Then we didn't have money to see it any more, and I haven't watched it since. I hope I get it, and that it's based more on the first few seasons, not this last one. Also, if it helps I also, am 17. Didn't think it mattered before but I guess age helps you win. But I don't want my age in consideration because that is no reason why I want this game, it's because I love 24. Favorite characters: David Palmer, and Kim Bauer. Thanks.

Jons Wyoming, MI

Dear JB:

I stumbled across your site and see that you are giving away 24: the DVD board game! OMG! I have never played this game, so I did some research to see how much fun I might expect to have, should I be so lucky to receive the game.

I found the following review:
Hideous game, 14 December 2006
1/10
Author: reviewer101 from United States

Hard to play, no continuity or instructions that make sense. Buy it at a yard sale this summer for a quarter, but pass on it now. This has limited game play i would say once at most. My wife and I quit playing it after two hours of trying to figure out why there is a game board, and why the clue cards exist at all. We are in our early thirties, love the show, and are not technologically challenged. But this game is a mix of playing 1980's pong style games with less of a point and less of a mental challenge. I don't know what I need to continue and say more but I need 10 lines so...DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS GAME. Watch the show, but avoid this waste of money and time at all costs.

If that didn't make me want to play the game, the other following reviews really hit my desire to play this game out of the ballpark:

I just complained to them, you should too

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

this game is unbelievably TERRIBLE

so confused wish i didnt buy the game!

HUHHHHHH?

WTF!!!!

As you can see, I have high expectations.

In reality, I would turn this into a drinking game and I really just want to see if Jack Bauer ever craps.

Thanks,
Kristine Columbus, OH

i m fed up from life, need something new in life to change, may be something from you room can help ..
cheers !!

Damn it Chloe, it's 24 the DVD board game!
(email me if you want it for free)

This week I am giving away 24 the DVD board game. Infiltrate facilities and diffuse bombs in this somewhat riveting DVD board game. The power of Bauer is practically spilling out of the box. You start off by picking a CTU agent and Jack gives you a briefing on "the situation". It's kind of like clue but probably less fun. To get this game you'll have to find the back door to the subnet through a scrambled protocol or you could just email me your name and address along with a compelling reason as to why I should give you this.

Update:I have gotten some good emails...keep them coming though.

The Gameboy Micro goes to...

I have chosen to send the Gameboy to Seth. I wish I had a Gameboy for every person who wrote me but I don't. This was a very tough decision and I thought about it deeply. I started to think about what it was like to be 17 again and how that was a big turning point in my life. I had a few key people believe in me and what I could do and that drastically changed who I am. Thanks for all of the great e-mails; I will be trying to follow up with Seth after he receives the Gameboy Micro.

P.S. I am posting another item on Wednesday. I don't know what it will be yet.

The Mario Block

Here is the the box I am sending the Gameboy micro in. I think it should mail quite nicely. I was going to paint it myself but I felt that the templates over at poster child's page were better than what I could do.

I will be posting who is receiving the GB micro tomorrow around noon and then mailing it to him/her.

Working on the packaging...

I am currently working on the packaging for the Gameboy micro. My idea right now is to put it in a box similar to the Mario question mark blocks. You know one like this:

I'll post some pictures of how I am going to make this but here are some cool templates and pictures where people put these around town. I am going to post who is receiving the Gameboy micro tomorrow, so stay tuned.

All bets are in, here are the emails!

For all of those just tuning in, I am giving away my Gameboy micro. All I asked was for a compelling reason I should send it to you.

Wow, I got so many great responses. Here are the ones that I liked and will be picking from over the weekend. Some people really make a strong case of needing while some people simply want it. One person has the Easter Bunny on his side...which makes me kind of nervous.

I like free lunches, I like free gameboys too...
I would like to have your GB micro for free. Otherwise, the Easter
bunny will eat your face.
Yours Sincerely,

Mark

Hi :)

My name is Seth, and I saw your blog about the gameboy micro. I'm sure there's alot of people who probably have better reasons than mine to get the gameboy, but I decided to give it a shot anyways. My reason isn't exactly funny, but more of a request for assistance. You see, I'm a 17 year old High School student, and over the past year or 2, my hobbies haven't been the healthiest. I got into drugs, and sort of bad honestly. I got in some trouble for them as well. I've recently made a decision to quit completely, I've talked to a couple of my friends about it and they are quitting with me. My best idea to help me stay away from them, is to pick up other hobbies. The best thing I've come up with is video games! This used to be a huge hobby of mine, and still is really, but I quit playing games as much whenever I got into the bad stuff. Though, the only system I had was a PS2 which my brother borrowed, and broke, the disc tray was snapped off while it was opened, and someone happened to stumble across it, resulting in my loss of the only console I owned. I'm in the process of getting a job, hopefully at Blockbuster (the best job locally minus fast food, sad I know..) But until then, I don't have many games to play, minus a few PC games I play, like Gunbound and GunZ, both free.

I'm a huge fan of Nintendo, I used to have Gamecube, which was lost by my mother in the process of her moving 3 hours away, and when we looked there I couldn't find it. Again, I'm console-less.

I think if I got the gameboy micro, it'd do a great job of keeping me occupied, and away from drugs and the like, and after awhile, I hope to save up enough to get myself a Wii.

I'd appreciate you considering me to get the Gameboy, but like I said before, I'm sure you'll get funnier, or more relevant reasons from other people, though, this is my attempt. :) Thanks.

-Seth El Dorado,KS

I believe I deserve your Game boy Micro because my mom through away my Nintendo DS while I was deployed to Iraq. I never got around to replacing it, and while it's not quite the same, a Game boy Micro would do wonders for my return to normalcy.

- Shaun Jacksonville, NC

So i have 10 minutes till class as i write this. Before I found out about this i had about 30 minutes between classes leaving just enough time so i can't really do anything worthwhile. I have 7 hours and 45 minutes of class on Mondays and Wednesdays because I need 6 classes to graduate. I work part time and a lot of it is downtime but the money helps me pay the rent. Since i increased my classes to graduate i decreased my hours at work so I really don't have any extra cash to buy something fun for me. I spend a majority of my day on the go. I think that the gameboy micro would be awesome for me cause i have 10-20 minutes hear and there to play a quick game. This would help me keep my sanity and help me through my rough schedule for the next few months. If you feel some pity then please send me it and help a poor college student out. Thanks for reading!

-Parth

Heres why I would appreciate something from your room. Bear with me, this may or may not be a while. It all started in November, my parent's both work together installing Carpet. We live in Michigan, which you may or may not know, is, I believe, currently the worst economy in all 50 states. We'll my parents were sub-contractors for a big company here in Michgan. But this company was owned by a man, who's name I don't know.
His sister, re-ran for secretary of state, and he used his company's funds to help campaign for her. He in the end, ran the company basically into the ground. So since November, after the elections, the company my parents worked for, has been trying to catch up for lost funds and make up money. They weren't doing to good, so in the end it started coming to jobs cuts. My parent's weren't the first, but they definately weren't the last.
On January 3rd(yes I remember the day, it's the day the has thus far started ruining my life, and for some time put me into depression) they were called in, and fired, since they didn't want to let them go, and have to pay unemployment, they found stupid things to finally fire them over. This is kind of where you come in. Since then, we've had no money and been going into debt paying for ourselves to get by. Since then, I haven't really been able to do anything fun, that costed money or have any normal extra's people get.
I've been playing my playstation 1, that I planned to upgrade to a ps2 or something in February, for the last 2 years. If I got something from your room, I'm hoping it could be something to entertain me more then the 3 channels on tv, or a playstation 1 with a few games. Thank's for your time and I appreciate what your doing. If my life isn't enough reason to get something, maybe the point that I took all the time to type it, and am telling you, a complete stranger about it, is enough for you to help me out. Thanks, I hope I get something.

I've bought and sold many a game system to pay for my addictive Apple
purchasing habits over the years. I would love to have a free system that I
can keep, because I wouldn't be tempted to sell it! Thanks for your
consideration, what a fun idea!

-Adam Davenport, IA

Hi! I know this may be a bit late but I just visited your site today. Awesome idea by the way!
My name is Matt, I'm 15, and I have 2 brothers who are 11 and 6. We constantly fight over the video games of the house. I love Advance Wars, my brother loves Megaman, and my other brother loves Pokemon. Needless to say, it's a hassle to trade off one GBA. Please, pick me for the Micro!
-Matt
Hello,

I should say I don't really NEED a Gameboy Micro. I would only use it to practice programming, because I use the emulator that comes with the free Visual Ham development software, and have gotten it to receive button input and draw lines. It sounds pretty lame but doing it was a lot of fun for me! So if you have an inkling to give it to someone that likes to tinker and make stuff, then indeed I am your man. Otherwise I think that someone else would have lots more fun with it.

Thanks for considering. I hope this turns out well for you no matter what!

Gameboy Micro emails recieved...keep them coming.

I have received some very compelling arguments for the Gameboy micro. It will definitely be a very hard decision. So that people cannot one up each other or anything like that I am going to post the emails on Friday and only those posted will be eligible. So go ahead and get your submissions in!

Gameboy Micro (email me if you want it for free)

This is my Nintendo Gameboy micro, if you haven't seen one of these the are extremely fun. You can play all of the Gameboy advanced games and it has great battery life. I am looking for the A/C Adapter so you may or may not get it. If you want to get this Gameboy micro then email me your Name and address along with a compelling reason I should give you this. I will then pick someone (pretty much randomly) and send them my Gameboy micro.

I can't wait to get this out of my room, not really but I would like to see someone get and enjoy this.

Update: Wow already some responses! Keep 'em coming!
Update 2: I have stopped taking emails for the Gameboy micro...I'll be making a decision over the weekend.
